IWPC webinars are interactive and attendance is limited. We receive overwhelming interest for these and IWPC members will receive priority. Please note that hosting webinars is a free member service which is a very good value as hosting webinars on other services can easily exceed the cost of an IWPC annual membership.
With the increasing use of devices using the millimeter wave band (>18 GHz) some unique challenges are seen in reducing interference from stray radiation. The shorter wavelengths lead to resonance issues that are not an issue at lower frequencies. ADAS radar components are embedded in a largely metallic automobile and covered with a non-transparent bumper. 5G antennas have very small power margins and cannot afford losses due to radome materials. This talk will focus on material strategies to limit EMI in the mmWave spectrum. We will discuss materials to absorb reflections including brackets to reduce the impact of reflections from the automobile interfering with the radar. We will discuss unique multifunctional solutions that serve the dual purpose of facilitating heat transfer from an electronic device with reducing (absorbing) stray EMI energy in that device. We will conclude with a brief overview of key properties for radomes used in the mmWave band.
